NOVEMBER BURPEE CHALLENGE

In November I was involved in a burpee challenge, where our group decided to aim to complete 1400 burpees for that month. For those of you who don’t know what a burpee is, then had a look at this video.

It strengths all parts of the body and it’s like doing a pushup with a jumping squat.

So for that month, I was able to not only achieve 1400 burpees but I actually did 2040! I’m was pretty happy with myself when I hit the 2000 mark. I roughly did about 50 burpees each day and on some days did over 100. On one particular day, I also did the Prison Burpees where you start with 20 burpees on one side of the room and then run to the other side and do 19 burpees. You continue doing this until you hit 0 burpees. This was actually the second time I did Prison Burpees for the year and it took me 30 minutes. When I first tried it I did it in 26 minutes. Here’s a video of what it looks like:

On some days I combined the burpee with exercises, e.g on my cardio day (Wednesday) I do the following:

  • Lunges with weights
  • 10x Burpee pull ups
  • Frog jumps
  • 10x Burpee pull ups
  • Bear Crawls
  • 10x Burpee pull ups
  • Sprints
  • 10x Burpee pull ups
  • Mountain Climbers
  • 10x Burpee pull-ups
  • One arm shoulder press with weights
  • 10x Burpee pull-ups

So just from that workout, I did 60 burpees pullups.

This is a video of me doing the Burpee Pullups. I tried keeping my core tight and when doing the pull ups, I tried to make sure my chin went above the bar.

Overall, this challenge was quite tough at the end but was worthwhile. I can feel my body feeling a bit stronger – a bit hard to say sometimes.
