Over the weekend (30th March 2024) I did my longest run of 30 km and it’s my PR. My previous longest run was 25.6 km set on 16/04/2022. My initial goal was to just beat 25.6 KM so I set a goal of 26 KM but during the run, I still had energy at around the 23 KM mark so I decided to go higher and aim for 30 KM. The last 2 KM was pretty tough but I still managed to do it and feel very proud of myself. I guess my philosophy is to always improve and that’s what I set out to do.
I didn’t plan to run half a marathon but my friend @monotonefunrun (check out his TikTok videos, he’s been running almost every day since the beginning of the year) asked me and I decided to do it with him on a weekend that I was free from driving my son to tutoring. His nephew also joined us on this run and it was going to be his first half marathon.
The weather was perfect as it wasn’t too hot and the temperature was initially at 14 degrees and went up to 18 degrees. It was a really good run as we ran from Parramatta Park to Rhodes and then back. It brought back memories since I ran with @monotonefunrun on some of this track whilst he was preparing for his half marathon.
This time round I believe I was a bit more prepared and I brought some water with Hydralyte. My friend packed some Vegan gels and lollies. In the end, we all broke our PRs. My friend @monotonefunrun did 25 km and his nephew did 24 km.
I strongly believe that running every day helped me in some ways to build the endurance to run 30 km and even after running this long distance I was still able to continue with my running streak. Although my legs were a bit sore, I still continued with the 5 km runs and I’m currently on 1634 DAYS.
