If you purchased one of these smart Arlec security lights then you probably have discovered the most annoying feature of these units. Keep reading and I’ll explain the issue.
The Arlec Smart security light uses LED lights and is very bright. The are no dials or settings you can physically change on the unit and everything is don’t via the mobile app. You will need the Arlec Yes there right to even change the brightness or the timeout you will need to use the Arlec Grid Connect app.
Once you have this mobile app installed, you need to make sure there is Wireless coverage for the security light to connect to the wireless router. The process to connect to the security light from the mobile phone is easy to do and once connected you have the option to change the brightness, sensitivity, and duration of how long the light will be activated.
If you’re having problems connecting to the Arlec Security light via wireless, there is a button at the bottom of the sensor which will reset the wireless. You might want to give this a try.
The biggest issue I found was that if the security light is powered off from the power point, you will need to reconfigure the settings. The unit doesn’t store the settings in memory and the default settings can’t be used as is. By default, the sensitivity is too low meaning the light will go on even during the day. It should be set so that the security light turns on when it’s dark in the evenings. Also, the default time duration is too short and needs to be changed. I’m not sure about you but I would be annoyed if someone accidentally switches the security light from the power point or if there are constant power outages.
