Ever since I started the business Advertise Me – a digital solutions company, I have been constantly learning how to launch and build websites. Prior to this, I had no knowledge about creating websites and since then I’ve launched over 20 or so. During this period, I also learnt about SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) techniques and copywriting. Although I’m not an expert in both of these areas, I can confidently say that my knowledge and experience has expanded.
WEBSITE TIPS
When it comes to launching a website, there are a number of fundamental and key tasks that one needs to complete and I’ve summarised some of these tips below:
- Purchase a domain name from a domain hosting company such as Online Hosting Solutions. Keep in mind that if your primary audience is in your local country, then purchase a geographic top-level domain such as .au if you’re in Australia.
- Set up your website hosting using a content management system such as the popular WordPress. I’ve primarily used WordPress due to its simplicity and features. Most hosting providers such as Online Hosting Solutions support WordPress.
- Find a WordPress Theme suitable for your business. A theme basically is a designed website where you can simply change the images, content and layouts. You will find one that is suitable for your website from ThemeForest
- Use a copywriter or write content for your website
- Set up all your social media accounts and use a username that is similar to the business domain name. This includes creating a Facebook Page, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter and Google Business
- Use a website auditor to check to make sure the website doesn’t have any broken links. I use a tool called Website Auditor
- Launch the website and promote it to all your social media accounts. I use a tool called Planable and Publer to manage this process.
ADVERTISEME.TV WEBSITE
One of the recent websites I launched was AdvertiseMe.TV – our digital signage software solution. We previously had a very basic website that didn’t receive much traffic and since we wanted to promote our digital signage tool I decided to revamp the website and launch it again. Mind you, our team discussed that we should update this website over 4 years ago but never got around to doing this. Maybe we were lazy or didn’t see an urgent need but I decided to take action and get this done. What helped me the most to actually complete this task was to put it on my to-do list where I would always be reminded of this outstanding task. I use several productivity tools and the one that helped me the most was Jumppl – a great team and project management tool.
WORDPRESS TOOLS AND TIPS
The WordPress theme I used for the website was called Avada and it was fast, simple to use and very popular amongst the WordPress community.

There are a few WordPress plugins I used for the website. Plugins allow you to quickly and easily add features to the WordPress website and there are free or paid plugin you can use to enhance the overall experience on the website. For SEO, I used a WordPress Plugin called Squirrly SEO and I moved away from using Yoast or other plugins such as Rank Math SEO. I also use a tool called EWWW for Image Optimisation, CDN and to improve site performance.
INITIAL WEBSITE TRAFFIC
I’ve submitted the website for Google to index and so far it’s still fairly new and isn’t receiving much traffic. I hope to constantly improve this website and increase its SEO rankings.
Building this website only took about 1 week and that included gathering photos and writing the content. I have added the website to my SERANKING project and will monitor the SEO ranking that way. I hope to have this website jump to the TOP 10 position for the term Digital Signage Software within 1 year.
