WHATSAPP META AI – FIRST TIME

I noticed today that the WhatsApp mobile app on Android had a new icon that I had never seen before and thought I’d try it out. The icon was to start using the Meta AI feature which uses Llama 3 LLM for the conversations. This implementation is very similar to what Microsoft is doing with Copilot and added this to all their Microsoft Tools. Google is a bit behind with Gemini and I haven’t seen it used in Gmail or some of the other Google products like YouTube.

I decided to try the Meta AI to see how it performs and what it does so here’s a video of my first time using it:

You need to make sure you have the latest version of WhatsApp on your mobile phone and you will see the new icon. I discovered that this icon cannot be removed which is very annoying. I checked all the settings in the Android Mobile app and I couldn’t find anything. I guess this is a good way for Meta to make sure people try and test it. I do hope they can add the feature to remove this in the future or in the next version of the app as I’m sure other people would be annoyed.

I tried several conversational prompts with Meta AI and it was able to generate images, provide text responses and I was hoping it would be able to do video or audio but it didn’t. Once you have the conversation on your mobile app, you will be able to use it on your Windows WhatsApp desktop as well. I haven’t tried it on MacOS but with Windows WhatsApp desktop you will be able to write several prompts. There is a bug though that prevents you from using it if you switch conversations. As you can see from the above video, the image generations aren’t too bad and there is a watermark on the bottom left hand corner that says IMAGINED WITH AI
