The Vivofit Jr batteries only last for about 1 year before you have to replace them. I purchased one of these basic smartwatches for my daughter over a year ago. In Australia, kids in primary school are not allowed to use mobile phones or smart watches that can receive phone calls or notifications. The Vivofit Jr does record the step counts and you can also assign tasks to your kids. If they complete a task they can earn digital coins and eventually they can redeem the coins for a physical reward. It’s a great way to incentivise your kids to do house chores.
Now back to the battery situation. The watch no longer started and that’s when I knew the battery went flat and there was no way to recharge the watch. You need to swap the internal battery with a new one. Luckily the battery can be purchased from your local supermarket or even on eBay. You just need to make sure it’s a 3V CR1632 coin battery.
You do need to remove the watch from the band and then remove 4 screws at the back of the watch.
Once you remove the watch apart you will see the coin battery and just swap it out. The unit is not waterproof so make sure your kid doesn’t go swimming with it otherwise it will no longer work.
Once you replace the battery you will need to pair it again with the mobile phone and here’s a video of how to replace the battery and pair it (using Android)
Hope it helps.
