Our company, Advertise Me digital solutions company based in Sydney Australia, is targeting medical centres for our digital signage software, AdvertiseMe.TV. Our staff roster module is versatile but has been particularly successful in medical centres for displaying doctors, dentists, and allied health services. We recently installed our digital signage software for medical centres at Advance Medical Practice, replacing their static manual board which was used to display the availability of doctors and allied health services.
The solution was initially built for a cancer therapy centre to display which staff were on call so that patients can familiarise themselves with the on-call staff. The original solution looked like this:
The backend was built using PHP and MySQL and we had a timeframe of only a few weeks to complete this project. The manager was able to upload the profile image and select whether they were in or out. In addition, they were also able to select whether the Radiotherapy machines were running on time, were offline and display the next scheduled maintenance.
Since then, we have migrated some aspects of this solution to our digital signage software and created a module called Staff Roster Module. This incorporated the requirement to display which doctors were in and whether they were running late. The solution is perfect for businesses that need digital signage for medical waiting rooms and has been used by medical centres such as Fullerton Healthscope Broadway, King Street and Advance Medical Practice.
Building our digital signage software was a long time coming. Initially, we were reselling other digital signage software products and we soon came to realise that the profit margins are small by simply selling another company’s software. Having built the experience and learning some of the drawbacks of the existing digital signage software we were reselling, we combined everything we learnt and built our own tool. The first iteration was a big flop as we made the solution to be overly complicated. We hired an overseas development agency to do this work and although they did a reasonable job, we were not satisfied with the overall solution. Based on this experience, we decided that one of our business goals was to eventually have an internal full-time software developer working for the company. At the time one of our co-founders was a so-called developer but didn’t have the necessary skills to complete this project. As a bootstrap company, we didn’t have the funds to have a full-time developer so we opted to just use an agency.
As part of our next iteration, we decided to strip down some of the digital signage software requirements and have very basic features but build a solution that was capable of adding modules and functions. This time round we managed to build the SaaS digital signage solution and landed some clients. and after a few years, we launched a dedicated website for AdvertiseMe.TV and have constantly added new modules which you can find here:
In particular, we have added several features to the staff roster module such as the ability to schedule the staff rosters based on days of the week and also days of the month. Staff managers will be able to schedule the roster in advance and only change the roster when required. If you run a medical centre or are in a healthcare practice make sure to check out this digital signage tool.
