Something really interesting happened to me whilst walking to the gym. I was crossing a road and this Indian guy (i think he was) with a bear and wearing a Turpin he said “You’re very lucky”. I said excuse me? “You’re a very lucky man” he repeated. He pulled me over and said he was a palm reader… he didn’t look like one. I went along with it as I didn’t want to be rude and just wanted to hear what he wanted to say. Mind you he had a strong accent and some words I couldn’t understand. He was also talking very fast. Anyways, during the conversation he started talking about my personality and type of person I was and he was pretty accurate. He asked me to open up my hand so he could read it. He then wrote something on a piece of paper and told me to open up my hand and he placed the crumpled paper on my hand. He then asked me a few questions, like what’s my favourite flower and number of kids and a few other questions. The interesting thing was all my answer were on that piece of paper. I guess deep inside it made feel like this person is very credible or he could be a magician or mind reader. At the end of the conversation he told me that for $50 he could say a small blessing prayer, for $100 a medium prayer and anything above for a large blessing prayer. That’s when I got put off from this encounter. It seemed like all along he wanted to provide me with a service without telling my there would be a cost associated with it. I told him I had no money (I was going to the gym so I don’t bring my wallet with me so it was the truth but an excuse at the same time). I just had some coins and gave it all to him just because he was accurate in some areas. He also wanted to see when I was available and I said no thanks and replied “you did a good job”.

Don’t get attached to praise – so todays encounter was unusual. One of the things I’ve learnt is not to be affected at what people say e.g praise and become attached to words. I honestly don’t believe people can read your future just by looking at your palm. Life is sometimes not mapped out to be what is on your palm and your life and destiny can change depending on the decisions you make. There’s a book I previously read called Liao Fan’s Changing Destiny which talks about changing destiny. You can get the book here:
When I mentioned this encountered to my wife she said to be careful about people placing charms on you. She gave a few examples and I told her that I’m not that type of person who can easily get conned into giving money out or one that is interested in finding out more about my future.
