When I go on a holiday, I always try to explore the surrounding areas during my daily runs. I recently visited Lake Conjola with the family and ran to various locations. On my 10 KM run, I actually ended up running on Buckleys Pt Trail which leads to Buckleys Beach.

On this trail, I ended up seeing a few warning signs with the message “Wild Dog & Fox Poison”.

I have run on trails before but this was the first time seeing these signs so in the back of my mind I was thinking of the worst possible outcome and what would I do if I encountered one of these animals. I decided that maybe I should have a stick ready and picked up a random stick and ran with this.

Luckily, I didn’t encounter any animals and when I did reach Buckleys Beach, it was empty.

It was a cloudy day and the beach had these purple shells which made it look very different from the other beaches I’d visited.

I was planning to run a different route back to the holiday house (BIG4) but due to the recent rain, the trail had a massive rain puddle and I didn’t want to get my shoes wet.

I decided to run back and grabbed the same stick that I left near the beach. I made it back to the holiday house safely.
On the second day of the daily run, I decided to run to Conjola Beach which was a 5 KM return run. The beach wasn’t busy at all and it was probably because of the cloudy weather. The was a decent playground near the beach but it looked like it was part of the Holiday caravan park.

There is a public toilet near the beach and it had a mural painting of seagulls.

This is what one part of the Conjola beach looks like.

Here are some other photos of the actual beach.

On my final day of the holiday, I decided to go to Pattimores Lagoon which looked pretty dried up.

It was a short run and I ended up having to run around a block to make up the 5 KMs.
We also ended up hiring a double Kayak and ended up just going around Conjola Creek. If you have your own inflatable Kayaks you should bring these along otherwise there is a cost of $40 for a half day or $60 for a full day of hire for a double. Overall, it was a great holiday and the family had lots of fun, more importantly, I still managed to keep dedicated and persistent with my daily runs.
